Kitten and The Bear

When my girlfriend suggested a girl date at Kitten and The Bear, I took a quick look at their website and Instagram, and fell in love with their whimsical, feminine shop. When we walked in, it was even cuter than I expected! There are just two tables available in the store, one with two seats, and the other with three, we were lucky enough to score the table by the window. If there is a wait, they have a list of suggested local shops to check out, and they will call your cell phone when your table it ready.  You also have the option of purchasing scones, tea, or jams from the bakery counter if you don’t want to sit in.

We decided to order the jam and tea service, which includes scones, assorted jams, clotted cream, and coffee or tea. The staff are very well versed in their jam knowledge and tea pairings and are happy to offer their recommendations and knowledge. The Banana Bourbon Vanilla-bean jam was recommended as their customer favourite, and I can certainly see why, it’s freaking delicious! The scones came fresh out of the oven and were tender, flaky, and so dang tasty. I wore a blush pink feminine high-neck blouse from Anthropologie, which felt like the perfect pairing for this floral and feminine shop.

After our jam and tea service, we took two coffee freezies to go, and headed out to explore the area and check out some of their local shop recommendations. I haven’t spent a ton of time in the Parkdale area of Toronto, and I know it has a bad rep at times, but this area of Parkdale is full of adorable mom-and-pop style shops from home decor, to fashion, and floral shops. If you are looking for something to do for a fun girly date, head over to Kitten and The Bear for an adorable and delicious time.
