Transitioning Summer Dresses

One of the things I love most about summer is how easy it is to just throw on a dress, and run out the door. I may look put together most days but, truly, I am pretty dang lazy and I only look put together because I have a dress on. My favourite dress I picked up this summer is this incredibly soft cold shoulder dress by Gilbert, available at Mendocino. They now have it in a long sleeve option as well.

I always want to get the most use possible out of pieces I purchase, so I like to take my summer dresses into fall and winter by pairing them with warmer, and cozier pieces. For fall I like to throw on a knit cardigan, like this one from Joe Fresh and pair it with some booties like I did here. Another way to get more use out of a summer dress is to either throw on a thin turtleneck under a slip dress with tights and booties, or pop on a luxe cashmere sweater – these ones from Lord & Taylor are my favourite, and a staple in my wardrobe – with a maxi dress and flats. I hope this helps give you all some inspiration and helps you get more wear out of your favourite summer dresses 🙂
