Happy Friday! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and have been enjoying the rest of your week. I took time this week to focus on family and getting our house in order after a very busy season of work and life. I truly appreciate the time I get to spend with those I love and had a wonderful time catching up with them.
With the new year approaching I am taking a little more time to myself this weekend to reflect on this past year and set some goals for 2018. I also hope to recoup and set some health goals after a couple too many breakfasts of cinnamon rolls, bacon, and mimosas. It’s all about balance, right?
New Year’s Eve is a two fold celebration in our household with my husband, Josh’s, birthday being that day. When we first started dating I asked him if he minded having his birthday on New Year’s Eve and he responded with “I love having my birthday on New Year’s Eve, it means no one has an excuse not to come out and party” so party we have done. Over the years those parties have changed slightly, with a bit less of a dressed up day and a more comfortable, yet still festive, house party with close friends. Though we go to house parties as opposed to clubs, bars, or restaurants (trust me when I say I never want to go to any of those places on NYE – I worked in one for five years and it was madness) I like to wear more casual pieces with a festive pop. When I spotted this sequin jacket in a vintage shop I knew it would be the perfect pop to punch up my more relaxed outfit.
Merry Christmas from our family to yours! We hope you have a wonderful day celebrating with loved ones and eating a couple too many cookies. This will be our first Christmas as a family together and I am so excited to have all these boys at home with me. A year ago we took these photos with my friend Allison because we thought it would be our final time with our foster dog, Morris. After months of back and fourth, and many tears along the way, we adopted him. I couldn’t be happier to have Josh off shift this Christmas and our two big fur babies to keep us company (and try to steal our bacon) this morning.
We wish you all the best and a very Merry Christmas!
Love, the Alexanders

With Christmas and New Year’s Eve (which is also J’s birthday) around the corner I am in full fledged holiday and party outfit mode! As soon as I spotted this beauty at the Club Monaco outlet near my house I knew I needed to make her mine. The lace detailing on this dress is unlike any other I own, and the added touch of the gold stitching makes it the perfect piece to ring in the new year in. Happy Friday loves! How the heck is it December already!? It feels like just yesterday I was kicking off November with my birthday celebrations. It’s wild how this past year has gone by so quickly, yet so much has happened. I am looking forward rounding out 2017 with a month full of many celebrations, starting off with one of my best friends birthdays this weekend and heading to the Milton Christmas Market with another. One of the things I love most about this time of year is being surrounded by loved ones and celebrating the year we have had. What are your favourite things this holiday season?
Though Josh and I have been living together for a couple years this will be our first Christmas together in our condo, making this Christmas season extra exciting! In years past I spent Christmas morning with my family, waking up early, making waffles and having Baileys with our coffee while we unwrap our stockings. The Froom (my maiden name) family rule is that you have to spend the day in your pyjamas. I always look forward to those waffles and spending the day in my PJs playing board games and watching movies with my family. This year, I am so looking forward to waking up Christmas morning and starting our own traditions together – including mimosas and waffles of course.
When decorating our home I decided to go girly, which Josh was surprisingly okay with. It was so fun finding the perfect pieces to pull together my own Christmas style. I love getting to put my own twist on our home decor and get in the festive spirit with baking and many viewings of Elf.
