Happy (Good) Friday! I am so looking forward to spending this weekend with my family and friends. Sadly, Josh works for the majority of the weekend and I work during the time he is home. Though it can be a bit difficult at times, we knew what we were signing up for when we picked our careers (I’m an event planner and Josh is a fire fighter), and we wouldn’t change a thing.

One of the aspects of my job, and this blog, is that I have the freedom to be creative. It’s so fun getting to pick out bold prints, mix patterns, add in some of my old favourites and try out new things. Sometimes they don’t always work out perfectly, but sometimes you end up with a fun spring outfit like this 🙂

I hope you all have a great Easter with your families and friends. Thanks for reading!

Floral Obsession

forever 21 cardigan-7.jpg

Blush Cardigan | Floral Tie Blouse | Denim | Lace-up Sandals | Cross-body Purse | Cat Eye Sunglasses

You may have noticed that I am totally obsessed with floral prints lately. I love floral prints year round, but particularly in the spring. This sky blue floral spring top is so dang cute, especially paired with this cozy oversized cardigan. I have been wearing this outfit on repeat lately, with no plans to stop!

P.S. can you tell how dang warm I was in these photos! We had such a good time shooting out in the warm sun for once, then heading to a friends place for a BBQ. I think I actually got a sun burn from sitting out in the sun.

Easter Dresses

Easter dress-7.jpg

Dress  (skirt & top version)| Heels (my wedding shoes) loving this pretty lace version| Sunglasses

This outfit is making me nostalgic. I wore this outfit for my bridal shower last may, and wore these shoes for most of my wedding day. I managed to make it until the real dancing started before I had to switch these hos pink pumps out for some more comfortable wedge sandals.

When I first spotted this dress a couple years back I was instantly in love – it also comes in a skirt and top option. I know florals for spring are nothing new, but I am totally obsessed lately. All I want to wear and buy are floral print or lace detail pieces. Have you noticed?

One of my favourite brands for beautiful floral dresses is Eliza J. Both my mom and I picked up Eliza J dresses, me for my shower, and my mom for the wedding. They have so many swoon worthy pieces and the quality is so good! Some of my latest favourites are:

Cold Shoulder

Cold Shoulder Blouse (| Denim (so comfortable, but go down two sizes!) | Pom-Pom Pumps | Studded Purse, under $100 (Valentio version – the original, which is closer to $3,000) | Aviator Sunglasses

How fun is this ruffle cold shoulder top! I am OBSESSED! I had my eye on this top for the longest time, and I finally purchased it a couple weeks ago. I have no idea why it took me so long to hit “add to cart” on this one, especially because it is less than $30, but I am so glad I finally did. I am a huge fan of the ruffle trend, and love the addition of the ruffles around the cutout, and to top it all off the darling floral print – it’s perfect!

Pleated Midi Skirt | Black Lace Top | Pom-Pom Pumps (less expensive option here) | Bow Clutch

I’ve had my eye on this pleated midi skirt for quite some time now, but wasn’t sure if it would be something that would work with my wardrobe. I kept finding myself looking at it again, week after week, so when it went on sale for $35 I snapped it up. I LOVE the colour and how fun it is to spin around and play! I think I might have to bring it out again for our Galentines party this weekend.

Treat Yo Self

Kate Spade Pjs-8.jpg

Pajamas: Kate Spade these are only available at the outlet store, so I linked my favourite heart print pajamas here: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 | Necklace: Stella & Dot | Coffee mug: Starbucks

In the past I wasn’t really a huge fan of Valentines Day. I spent years working in a restaurant during college, and my post-grad, and I always dreaded working on Valentines Day. People would always get SO worked up about it, the restaurant would be jammed all night, and couples often seemed overwhelmed by the day, rather than enjoying their time together. So, Josh and I have always opted instead to go out for dinner another time, and just treat our selves to a relaxing night at home. It’s so nice to put on some luxe pajamas, curl up with some sweet treats, and watch a good movie at home. This year, I encourage you to skip the big pressure filled night and, treat yo self, to a cozy night in.

Ladylike Leopard

Leopard print coat-8.jpg

Coat: Topshop | Denim: J Brand | Sweater: Mendocino (not available online, very similar turtleneck here, under $80, and here, under $35) | Heels: Penny Loves Kenny (similar here) | Purse: Rebecca Minkoff | Sunglasses: Sonix, also loving these | Earrings: Forever 21

How is it already February!? Is it just me, or did January just fly by? I am thrilled that this winter is going by quickly. I always find it difficult to feel creative with my outfits this time of year. I am itching for spring, but still living in an icebox most days. I loved adding a little ladylike touch to my outfit last week with these fun pom-pom pumps and this leopard print coat. I think it may have finally pulled me  out of the funk I have been in for the past couple weeks. The one great thing about still needing winter ready pieces this time of year, is that they are all on sale! Ya’ll know I love a good sale.

Hi there, I hope ya’ll had a great weekend! This weekend was/has been (I’m writing this on Sunday night) crazy busy, but so good! By Friday I was feeling like I was in a serious funk (you may have noticed the lack of post last Friday. Sorry, I just couldn’t get it together last week) so Josh and I decided to get out of the house and go on a date night. We headed out for dinner, then went to see La La Land. The first few minutes of the movie had us both worried about what we had gotten ourselves into, but it was actually SO good. Josh may not be willing to admit it, but we both really liked the movie.

Classic coat-7.jpg

On Saturday Josh headed off to work, and I started my day with the hardest Barre class I have done yet. I should mention this was only my fourth class. After Barre, I headed out to play Archery Tag at Archers Arena. I was pretty hesitant about playing since I was already so sore, and it was just me and my guy friends from grade school, who are all very competitive, but once we got into the games it was a heck of a lot of fun. I will admit, when you get hit straight on with one of the arrows from the heavier weight bows, (there are three weight options) it does hurt, but it really wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. If you have played paintball before, you are more than prepared to handle playing this.

Classic coat-12.jpg

That brings us to today, yesterday for those reading this the day it goes live. I was in teaching Sunday School this morning, then met up with Josh after and headed out to grab some coffee and food at a couple of our favourite local restaurants. I wore this outfit to church, then out for the rest of the day. For those of you who are used to wearing your Sunday best, the church I attend would be a big shock to you. I love that it is casual there because that allows me to actually get in on helping with all the messy crafts and the activities without worrying about ruining my clothes. I love finding pieces, and putting together outfits, that are comfortable, stylish, and still very practical, so that I can actually get out and do the things I want to without worrying. The pieces shown here are some of my go-to picks when I know I’m facing a busy day of errands and activities, but still want to be put together enough to not worry about running into someone I know. That may sound like a weird thing to be thinking of, but after Barre on Saturday I ran into the grocery store to pick up a couple items so I could make lunch. I looked like a HOT MESS. I mean seriously, I think I was still half asleep when I grabbed my outerwear. I had on multiple different colour plaid prints, big clunky rain boots, I was sweaty and gross, it was just a mess. As I walked up to grab spinach, I noticed my new boss standing there with a friend. Normally I would have said hi, but I was such as mess and was dreading running into anyone, so I bee lined it in the other direction to get the one other thing I needed. By the time you read this I will have already told her about it, and likely been teased about it by my colleagues. I deserve it haha. Anyhow, my point here is that I think it is important to not leave the house looking like a mess in the name of comfort, because you never know who you are going to run into.

Classic coat-5.jpg

Well that was one long paragraph. If you made it this far, thanks for sticking through that. I am pretty zonked (by that I mean sleepy) while writing this so I really hope I am not rambling on. I hope you all have a fabulous week!

Ready for the Holiday’s

christmas-party-outfit-2Sequin Leggings: H&M ( on sale for $20!) | Sweater: J.Crew Factory  | Plaid Button-down: J.Crew Factory | Heels: Sam Edelman | Purse: Kate Spade (marked down to less than $200, plus an extra 30% off until January 4, 2017 with the code SPRINKLES)

Happy Eve of Christmas Eve and happy Friday!! I am so dang excited for this weekend, for a number of reasons. 1) It’s almost Christmas 2) I’m going to watch Elf and drink wine with a girlfriend tonight 3) I get to see a lot of my friends and family 4) MORRIS IS HOME! – for those of you who don’t know who Morris is, he is our adorable yellow lab that we fostered for a year. He is now in training to be a Service Dog Guide, for people with physical disabilities, and this is very likely the last time he will be with us so we are soaking in every minute 5) Today is my last day working at Dog Guides (this one is bitter-sweet), I might have cried 6) I have all my sparkly holiday outfits laid out and I am looking forward to wearing all of them.

There are so many fun things going on over the next week and I am so thrilled that I have some time between leaving this role and beginning my new job next year. I am one of those people who loves to plan out my outfits for every occasion, and this bright red sweater from J.Crew Factory is perfect for this season. I am in love with this pairing of a bright punch of colour with some (semi) subtle sparkle. Although I was hesitant about the sequin legging trend at first, I totally get why it is so popular. Looking dressed up while feeling like you’re at home in your lululemons is a win in my books! I hope you all have an awesome Christmas! See you next week 🙂
